New Spec FFord: Europe goes on steroids

Ford has revealed the all new 2012 Formula Ford race car, which is to be powered by a 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, and is mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox, which meters out 158 horses and 162 pound-feet of torque.  The chassis is still of steel tubular construction in keeping with “grass roots” motorsport.  The pricetag of six-digits (Euro) however is a far-cry from the 1000-pounds-stirling of the 1960’s class rules.

SENNA – Movie

The Ayrton Senna da Silva movie, SENNA, is starting a limited run at Rialto theatre in Newmarket, Auckland, from September 1st.

Session times can be found be clicking here.

The season run of the movie is just SEVEN day’s, so don’t muck about unless you are prepared to wait until it comes out on DVD / Bluray, which, if any of the reports from Autosport, Motorsport, F1 Racing and the like are anything to go by, you would be doing yourself an injustice by not seeing this on the big screen.

Cross Eye’s Up More Sausage Rolls

You’d be right to wonder why there is a plate of sausage roll’s on a Formula Ford website.  What this is though, is the view one Tony Cross will continue to indulge himself in whilst attending Historic Race and Sports Car Club committee meetings.

Tony was once again voted in, albeit against competition as stiff as Phill Goff is to John Key, to be the HFFR representative at this weeks AGM of the HRSCC.

Although Tony self confesses that he is there only for the sausage rolls, if you have anything you would like to bring up at a committee level, then he is your go-to man, to, well, go to.

2nd Weekend Poll

Following our highly scientific polling system, that would make politicians green with envy, there has been an overwhelmingly positive response to running both weekends at the NZFMR BMW Festival.  The results have been emailed through to the organisers so now it is a case of wait and see what happens.

Registration of Interest

There has been a strong response thus far for registrations of interest to run at the first weekend of the NZFMR BMW Festival, with almost 20 registrations to date.  There are still about ten or so regular drivers to register interest, so please don’t forget to email Jim Barclay to pre-register.  If you haven’t got Jim’s email address, you can find it on the NZFMR website (linked above)
